Through my friends at Soldier of the Day, I found out one of the veterans they honored last week is currently in the VA hospital suffering from cancer.  This sweet man recently received word that his illness is terminal and feels alone with the knowledge of his condition. If you’ve ever been to a VA hospital, you know what a lonely place it can be.  I thought how easy would it be to send him a little love.  I’m writing a letter right now and mailing it his way.  If you’ve got a stamp and a minute, do you mind sending something too?

To give you a little bit of Jerry’s history, he served in the Navy from 1965 to 1986 on the USS Lexington,the USS America, and the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower.  This retiree has very little time left here and needs our support.  If you can’t send a letter, I’d love your commitment to pray for him.  God bless you, Jerry, and thank you for your service to our nation!

An old Army friend of mine started this website, Soldier of the Day, to honor American veterans, a new veteran each day.

The website isn’t quite up yet, but he does have a Facebook page that is currently running information.

I’ve been impressed by the biographies included for each new “Soldier of the Day”.  Check it out and remember a new soldier today!
