HI!! I am sitting here with a wet beret on my head. I am on Active Duty but had surgery last week and I’m on con leave. I am a single mom of a 3 1/2 year old boy. I just found your blog and it made me laugh and I relate to so much of it, thanks for sharing. I feel so alone sometimes, there just aren’t alot of military moms (even less that are single). It is a tough job and I wish there was a military mom network of support. YOU ROCK!!
Thanks, Kate! Enjoy that sweet little boy and come back often. I hope to get back on the blogging bandwagon soon. I found some great support through small groups at whatever Christian church we were attending at the time. Tried to surround myself with kind, funny people during the tough times. Good luck to you!
Hi! I, as well as kate from the comment above mine, just finished shaving a beret (my ex girlfriend texting me wondering “why did you shave hat? not strange at all”). I was reading through your “My story” category and I thought it was pretty cool! I’m a platoon sergeant (Sergeant First Class) in my high school’s JROTC program, so I was able to relate a bit to the ROTC parts you went through. Yet again, like Kate has said in her aforementioned comment, you rock!
Thanks, Marcus! Will add more to “my story” soon!
I hope so, it’s really interesting…that makes me sound like a creeper ._. but nonetheless!
I’ve been in the Army for almost 14 years now, and found it time to retire my old beret and bring a new one into being. I googled how to shape and form these darn things to refresh my memory (I’ve been wearing my PC since 2004, rarely wearing the “Floppy Hat”). Your blog about it had me falling out with laughter, much to the confusion of my wife. Thank you for posting and adding the humorous pictures, Ma’am!
Thanks for the comment, Kirk. I’ve been too busy snuggling my 3 month old baby girl to post lately but promise I’ll be back at it soon!
