On the road again
Tomorrow, I’m flying to Fort Benning, Georgia (with a stop in Montgomery, AL) to commission one of my first administrative non-commissioned officers.
I’m not packed, leaving in a few hours, beyond tired, oh, and taking my 18 month old with me. You know, the one nicknamed, “Screamer”? So wish me luck. I am honored and excited to commission Alicia and know that she will make an incredible officer.
Now if I can just memorize the oath on the plane to swear her into the Officer Corps! (see below)
I (insert name), having been appointed a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army under the conditions indicated in this document, do accept such appointment and do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter, so help me God.
